Chair of Ritual
I joined FRS before I could walk, and have been involved in the community in various guises over the years. As a teenager, I was a Friday Group helper and assistant, then teacher at what was then known as Sunday School.
Since then, I have been involved with adult education, and have also had two short spells on the professional team, including as temporary synagogue director.
I am in my second stint as a warden of the synagogue, and am also currently Chair of Ritual, where I convene discussions of the Jewish aspects of our services which support our efforts to keep our Judaism inclusive, accessible, and relevant. This has thrown up some interesting challenges over the past year in particular.
Being involved in this way makes Judaism personally very meaningful, and has helped make the celebrations of our children’s b’nei mitzvah extra special.
