Building Community Together

After 18 years as senior Rabbi at FRS, in July 2024 Rabbi Miriam Berger will step down from her position at FRS, to found a remarkable new organisation - Wellspring.

Rabbi Miriam will leave FRS in a position of strength, having brought inspiration leadership, compassion and commitment. However she will remain part of our community and continue to be present in FRS life. In her words: "I may no longer be a member of FRS's professional team, but for me, Jonni and Ben, FRS will continue to be the Synagogue to which we belong and where we come to pray, just like the other 14 Rabbis and Cantors in our membership".

FRS's Council will now build on the foundations Rabbi Miriam has given us by consulting with our membership and initiating the process to seek out a new Rabbi to join FRS. Our exceptional clergy team, Cantor Zöe Jacobs, Rabbi Deborah Blausten and Rabbi Howard Cooper will continue to guide our community with care, energy and dedication, and they will play a key role in the consultation process.

FRS Consultation Events

Rabbi Miriam’s departure gives us the opportunity to really think about our community. Who are we, as FRS in our new building? What do we value? What or how might we want to change, grow, or develop? What is most important to us in the coming months and years?
