Hello! I’m Karen, and I joined the professional team at FRS in the summer of 2017.
Between the summer of 2017 and spring of 2025, I had the privilege of heading up the Youth & Education team at FRS. Being able to get to know FRS families across a multitude of age ranges and across many different areas of community life – from festival activities for the pre-schoolers, to our regular education programmes such as Kochavim and the Bnei Mitzvah programme, to teen trips overseas and everything in between, I feel very lucky to have enjoyed such a diverse job with a fabulous team around me.
Since the spring of 2025, I have transitioned to the lofty heights of the role of Synagogue Director! The change of track has been energising, and I am absolutely committed to leading our thriving community to continue on its journey of innovation, inclusivity, relational development and – ultimately – joy in being together.
Having grown up at FRS myself, I am in the wonderful position of already knowing a huge cross-section of the community personally. However, if I’ve yet to meet you, please do reach out – I will be delighted to get to know you better!
Outside of work, having lived overseas for many years in both Japan and Germany, my family and I are enjoying being settled back in the suburbs of Hertfordshire. My husband, Wes, and I have three fabulous teenagers, who also keep FRS very much in their lives. And for relaxation, you’ll find me walking, catching up with friends, or tending our lovely garden.
