Erev Shavuot and Tikkun Leil

Tuesday, 11 June, 2024 5 Sivan 5784

6:30 PM - 11:00 PMFinchley Reform Synagogue

Please join us from 6:30pm for an Erev Shavuot service followed by a chavurah dinner and an evening of learning:

Ritual and mental health
8:15-9pm
Join Rabbi Miriam Berger with Consultant Psychiatrist Mark Berelowitz and Consultant Clinical Psychologist Stuart Linke to explore the place that ritual can play in our mental health.
From lighting the Shabbat candles to taking stock of our lives on Yom Kippur, how can we ensure that ritual is not restricted to the moments the rabbis of old prioritised.

Ritual and decision making
9:15-10pm
Reform Judaism is not "Judaism Lite". So how do we make decisions about our ritual practices as a synagogue? This decision making is usually reserved for our ritual committee but this Shavuot let's go through the process together to answer a question recently raised, "should Jewish status be a prerequisite for participation in our Torah services"?

Ritual, music and storytelling
10:15-11pm
How do we pass rituals down the generations and keep their memories alive? Our late night session will intersperse singing and music with stories of our tradition. Join us for this final session of the evening!

Please register below if you wish to attend and enter the names of everyone you are registering for, as well as what you will be bringing for the Chavurah Dinner (no meat and NO NUTS), in the notes box.

Sorry, Registration has ended.
