‘Mum Thumb’ is a play with music based on some of the experiences of the author and her mother. It explores their changing relationship as the mother journeys through vascular dementia, with snapshots of their earlier lives and elements of their Jewish identity woven throughout.

‘Mum Thumb’ is a lesson in kindness, patience and solidarity, exploring the impact of dementia and death on family relationships. It also contains a surprising amount of fun and joy along with beautiful songs.

After its original conception as a play for the theatre, 'Mum Thumb' was adapted in 2020/2021 and shown on Zoom. We're now thrilled to be presenting it onstage, with Jules Tipton as our director and Laura Weston as movement director.

After the play, which lasts about an hour, there will be a short break with hot drinks and cake and then the opportunity, for all who wish to, to spend some time together reflecting on the play, sharing some of our experiences and potentially asking questions of the writer and company. There will also be the option to join online.

To find out more about the play and the writer, please visit our webpage and Facebook Page. And if you've already seen 'Mum Thumb' you're warmly invited to join our Facebook group too.
