Finchley Social & Cultural

Finchley Social & Cultural talks have taken place regularly during Covid, mostly on Zoom with the occasional in-person session. The programme's philosophy is two-fold:

On the one hand, it is intended to provide a platform for members to introduce a lecture topic (eg an area of expertise or an insight into their work). Recent examples are Simon Rubinsohn on Covid and its effect on the economy, David Farbey on Jewish opera stars in the early 20th Century and David Lewin on "Search and Unite, his organisation set up to help reunite families separated in the Holocaust.

And on the other hand, it is intended to showcase outside speakers who talk on varied subjects: for example, Dr Helen Fry on intelligence activitiy during World War II, Jonathan Kaufman on his book about the last kings of Shanghai and Mark Warman on his life as one of the Cambridge Footlights and as a Musical Director.

If you are interested in speaking, or have someone to recommend, please email Susan Reuben.
