Dear fellow FRS member,
We have some exciting news. Some FRS members have got together and set up some interest groups that they would like to see happen, under the name ‘Jew3a’.
Some are ready to start and others are in the pipeline. These are in addition to the many activities already happening at FRS, that you might be interested in.
There’s a variety of opportunities, such as Table Tennis, Poetry, Exploring Shakespeare, Sunday morning walks and French Conversation.
We also already have two speakers booked - Jon Silverman on 25 February, talking about the UK’s attempts to prosecute Nazi collaborators and Alan Silman on 29 April about Jewish Genetics. These will be at FRS starting at 2.00 pm.
Other groups are in the process of being organised and we will keep you up to date by sending an email, posting on the website and in the FRS weekly news.
We have attached a programme for February, including existing groups and events you might be interested in.
To find out more about any or all of the groups, please contact the person shown to be responsible in these early stages for each activity.

FebFebruary 17 , 2026October 7 Memorial Discussion
Tuesday, Feb 17th 6:00p to 6:30p
The return of Ran Gvili’s remains for burial by his family marked the end of a 843 day period of waiting and praying for our community. It enables us to transition from our communal mourning to making a more permanent memorial for those killed on 7 October 2023. We invite you to join the FRS clergy team and Kathy Davison for a creative conversation about what form this might take. -

FebFebruary 17 , 2026Voices of Israel: Brothers and Sisters in Arms
Tuesday, Feb 17th 7:30p to 8:30p
What is the democratic future of Israel? The government is racing ahead with Judicial overhaul and Haredi conscription laws, trying to cement substantial changes to the fabric of society. Meanwhile, there will be an election in 2026. How much can the government achieve before then? How can effective opposition be organised? A discussion with Ron Scherf and Liat Weiss Shahaf of Brothers and Sisters in Arms (Achim Laneshek). There will be time for Q&a. Brothers and Sisters in Arms is a grassroots movement dedicated to ensuring the safety and existence of the state of Israel as a Jewish, egalitarian, pluralistic, and democratic society, according to the values and spirit of the Declaration of Independence, both today and for generations to come. This evening is not an explicit endorsement of BSIA by FRS, nor is it a condemnation of Israel. Our intent is to allow members to engage with deep experts on the fundamental issues affecting the future of Israel. Join us from 6.30pm at FRS. -
