Why is this event different from all other events? An evening of pre-Pesach learning
Monday, 23 March, 2026 • 5 Nisan 5786
7:30 PM - 9:00 PMFrom food to song and freedom, we want to discuss a little bit of everything Passover before the Chag officially begins.
For security reasons, this event is free but registration is mandatory, and you can do so below.
7.30pm - Kitni-what?!?
Kitniyot is a term you might have seen as you buy your Passover food, but what are they? Why do some people feel extremely strongly about eating, or not eating(!), legumes during Passover, and what can the debate around kitniyot tell us about being a progressive Jew in 2026?
With Rabbi Deborah Blausten
8.20pm - Pause for Refreshments
8.40pm - More than Mortar: There are almost as many charoset recipes as there are Jewish households, but the Talmud thinks apples are an essential ingredient. Why are apples so important, according to Midrash and the Song of Songs, and how might they help us look both back to slavery and forward to the promise of freedom?
With Rabbi Eleanor Davis
