I lived in Finchley from the age of 9 months until Ingrid and I were married in 1973, when we moved to Hertfordshire. We joined FRS in 1974, and since then the synagogue has been our family’s spiritual and cultural home.
I have been Honorary Secretary of the Synagogue before – for about 5 years during the late 1980s/early 1990s – and I enjoyed working with Rabbi Jeffrey Newman and the late Chairman, Alan Rayner, and gaining an insight into the challenges facing a growing community and helping to find possible solutions.
After stepping down as Chair of FRS in March 2019, following three interesting and challenging years, I was very happy to be invited once again to take on the role of Hon Secretary. Although the role is largely an administrative one, it has enabled me to stay close to the centre of this wonderful community and help to plan and guide its many activities.
